Traditionally baby showers have been a time for the mom-to-be and her friends to get together and celebrate the pending birth of the newborn baby. In the last few years there has been a trend towards incorporating the dad-to-be into the celebration. Really when you think about it, it only makes sense, the dad-to-be is just as excited and apprehensive about the big changes that are coming his way. He has been working hard to take care of his share of things and will appreciate being a part of the celebration.
Having a coed baby shower
Many people are throwing coed baby showers these days. This way there are more than a few guys in attendance at the event and the dad-to-be, doesn’t feel like he is outnumbered at the party. Many times as the gifts are being opened, the men will get together and assemble the items, there is usually at least one or two experts in the room and this can be a big help to the new dad. You will have to adjust some things, such as the baby shower games games and also the décor should be more coed friendly.
A Separate Event for Dad
Some Dad’s want to throw their own get together, separate from the shower festivities. A separate get together during the shower at another location might be the perfect answer. The Dad and his friends can go out to a restaurant or bar during the shower for a “last-night-out” celebration before the days of fatherhood begin. Sometimes the Dad’s friends are not open to attending a shower because they are a little apprehensive about picking out a gift or feeling out of place at the event. A Dad can throw an event that suits his friends a little more than a traditional shower would. A popular idea is to have a diaper (slash) keg party where the Dad supplies the keg and the attendees bring a package of diapers as admission to the party.
